Modern Studies Teacher: Mr Propp
The ethos for teaching Modern Studies at Cademuir is based on making the subject accessible, interesting and positive for all pupils. This is to be achieved through the balanced study of many different aspects of society. This study will build from a foundation of basic topics through to complex national and international aspects.
The department perceives Modern Studies as an opportunity to gain an understanding of how our society and other societies work. It also looks at how our society and the world society tackles many of the more difficult problems that the world has to face.
The course also gives a very good grounding in the various concepts that are encountered in the social sciences. This is achieved through firstly the use of keyword vocabulary within units, but secondly the in-depth unit on concepts in Modern Studies.
