It is the aim of the department to assist in providing a stimulating and interesting approach to the subject so that pupils can gain the knowledge they require and an interest in the subject that they will never lose.

	Contribute to the aims and objectives of the whole curriculum of the school.
	Contribute to the teaching approaches, learning experiences and assessment policy pursued by the school
	Attempt to develop the attitudes which the school as a whole is concerned to foster

The department overall effectiveness will be evident from the part it plays in the achievement of the schools aim, in the quality of learning, which it provides for the individual pupils, and in the extent to which it is seen to be supportive in the personal development of individual pupils.
